![]() It also includes several write-ups for magic that falls into these realms. This small section gives the rules for taking magic into the levels of Legendary and Godlike. Searching for a master and spending time learning and practicing all adds to the setting. I love watching the movies where the hero must learn a Technique or Style to defeat the evil bad guy. This all falls right into the feel of Wuxia for me. ![]() Along with the list of character requirements (in the form of specific Taos levels, stats, or even needed techniques), there are also rules on how much time a PC must be an apprentice to learn the Style. Martial Techniques are similar to Combat Techniques, but usually have a long list of requirements and are very specific to the Combat Style they are a part of. These styles are more specific than basic weapon styles and can grant the PC the ability to do certain Martial Techniques. The rest of the section goes into detail about different Combat Styles that can be learned from a master. The section also adds an entirely new weapon style called Bianshu which is the style of fighting with flexible weapons like whips and chains. Some of the new Techniques include suicide attacks, blinding, and mounted combat. This section begins with some new Combat Techniques and revised lists for each weapon with the new Combat Techniques and higher levels. The High Levels of the Martial Arts (Pages 9-19) I know as a player I would really look forward to being able to earn some of these abilities. These new levels really give a sense of moving into a higher level of play. These levels take the Taos from the reality bending to supernatural reality breaking. Another is the Tao of the Hidden Shadow allowing a PC to not only hide in a shadow, but teleport from shadow to shadow. Some examples are the Tao of the Light Step can allow the character to be like Spider-Man in his wall crawling and precarious positioning. Now the Taos go from the spectacular to the sheer impossible. This section extends the Taos to fifth and sixth levels. It makes me feel more intimate with the setting. I always like when a setting uses a continuous flow of fiction throughout their product. The Introduction also continues the saga of Heart of Jade from the core book. It also explains that they converted the measurements into Imperial and some users may want to convert back to metric. ![]() C7 explains that you might see the terms “small hour” and “double hour.” These represent what they sound like a small hour is one hour and a double hour is two. The Introduction starts with a small table of contents, and some information to help understand some oddities in translation. ![]() All in all the book seems very small however, it is packed with useful information. The cover uses a cropped piece of art depicting one of the fighters from the GM’s screen art. It maintains the same parchment style with the interior pages and nice layout we previously saw. Not only does it add new more powerful material, it also gives an adventure that follows the one in the core so that it is geared more towards more experienced players instead of new green recruits. Legends expands on the ideas in the core book taking things to a higher level of play. Qin Legends is a player’s companion for the game Qin: The Warring States published in English by Cubicle 7. ![]()
